I have now read up to "Episode" 12 - and the quality of writing remains intense, breath-taking, and deeply personal. There are some passages - the technical brilliance of which simply takes my breath away.First, there's the intense, super-real scenes unfolding in Super High Def in your mind's eye... Then there's the wringer your emotions get put through - which you only notice AFTERwards... and, finally, there's the going back to see how on God's beautiful Earth did the writer manage to WRITE such an experience!
These authors turn the simple acts of sitting down, walking into a room, or offering someone a cup of coffee, into mesmerizing moments of tension-building or character development. By the time the "real" action happen, all the carefully (and invisibly) laid emotional depth-charges go off with the military precision of a complex demolition job.
Phew - I LOVE IT!
I've also cried a few times. Seriously.

Not going to say much about this as I read SU 1-12 as quickly as I possible could because I couldn't put them down and they were all there and oh my goodness I couldn't stop myself. This review will be put into each of the books mentioned. Will obviously pre-order the next one as soon as I notice it being available to do so.
This entire series is such a gift. I was soooooo sorry when it stopped with # 14. As you keep going to the next book, these characters become your friends, beloved friends. Each and every one is a wonderful invitation into the life that hopefully none of us will ever experience. Thank you to all who inspired these adventures.
Darn it! Another well paced set of stories, just like a well written tv series with action filled plots and characters who develop over time. Now that I know Chaz, Brady, Worth, Lau and the others better, I'm going to have to keep tuning in. Gotta go shell out for Shadow Unit 3 now. Trying not to empty the whole bag by buying them all at once, but we all know there won't be any cookies left soon.
The story of the Shadow Unit continues. The FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit hunts humanity's worst nightmares. But there are nightmares humanity doesn't dream are real. While still excellent this volume feels a little lighter than Shadow Unit 1. There is more of the journals and such rather than meaty stories. But the characters are still engaging and it didn't slow me down. After the running start, this volume gives a bit more character development.
Highly addictive. I lucked onto this series through frustration that I can't get the bordertown anthologies on kindle (grrrr). But the team and the mission now have me hooked. The pace is good, solid action with enough insight into the team and its interactions to give the series real dimension. It's easy to care where these people came from and where they're going.
I expected to enjoy this one and loved it. I can't get enough of these great characters. Together as a group or individually they are amazingly interesting. I loved the interaction between them, the depths I was able to see in each individually. This is a great series. I cannot wait to read the next book. I recommend this series to all my fellow readers of this genre. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it was too short. Read it in 2 hours. But still worth the few $ it cost.
The Shadow Unit has an interesting premise that is being revealed very slowly. So far that is actually the weak part of the books. The bad guys are just bad guys even if they are powered by the mysterious anomaly. The FBI agents are well drawn, though, fun, and you want to get to know more about them. Each has a back story that is being slowly revealed and that's what keeps me coming back for more. In public, they try to be everything you would expect from the FBI. It's how they got there that is the interesting part. The team dynamics are also intriguing and despite the grim work being done, it feels almost familiar to anyone who works in an office with a team. Good stuff.
